Lower Your Risk of Having Breast Cancer

Everybody seems to know a person with breast cancer and there are thousands of women living everyday under the risk of developing breast cancer. Doctors don’t know what exactly produces breast cancer, but there are a lot of known risk factors. Some of them cannot be change (as age or family history), but others can be changed and improved. Also there are a few protective factors that will reduce your risk of developing breast cancer.
First rule: have a regular checkup and communicate often with your doctor. Have an annual mammogram starting at age 40. Do your breast self-exam on a regular basis all your life
Second rule: have children, at least one and rather before age 30.Also breastfeed your children. It will reduce your risk of developing breast cancer and it will help you have a healthy child.
Third rule: do not take birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy without medical prescription.
Other rules: stop smoking, drink in moderation, stay slim, exercise on regular basis, eat a low-fat diet.
